Age Group Information

PCRA soccer has a history of excellence.  We have been competeing for county championships in every age group for many years.  Below are the age groups and an idea of what you can expect for each age.  The age of the player on August 1 is used to determine the age bracket for the child.  A player must be 4 on or before August 1 to be eligible to play U6.  A player must be 13 on August 1 to be eligible to play U14.  Parents will be expected to furnish a soccer ball and cleats (NO STEAL CLEATS ALLOWED) for their child.  Parents will also be responsible for purchasing uniforms per the coaches request.  Many coaches get sponsors to help avoid this cost.  If you or your company wish to be a sponsor for your child(ren)'s team, then please let your coach know as soon as possible.

U6

U6 teams will be formed from players registered with PCRA under the age of 6.  U6 plays with a size 3 ball on the small fields.  Their games will be 4 vs 4 without a keeper.  One coach is allowed on the field with the players during the game but only during regular season games.  A season ending tournament will be held to crown a county champion.

U8

U8 teams will be formed from players registered with PCRA under the age of 8.  U8 will also use a size 3 ball.  U8 brings in a little more difficulty by playing on the medium size fields and they play with 6v6 instead 4v4.  At the U8 level they will also start using a keeper.  Even though offsides is still not enforced, coaches are still strongly encouraged to teach their kids what this is.  A tournament will be held at the end of the season to crown a county champion.

U10

U10 will have 2 levels of play: Recreation and Select.

Recreation

U10 Rec teams will be formed from players registered with PCRA under the age of 10.  The recreation team will continue to play within the Morgan County Association.  The U10 Rec teams will continue to play as a coed team with a size 4 ball.  U10 will up the number of players to 8v8 with a keeper and offsides will be enforced.  A county tournament will be held to crown the county champs.

Select

U10 Select teams will be made up of teams that are selected from a try out.  U10 Select will be split into U9 and U10 (if there are enough players).  U10 Select teams will play a 5v5 with a keeper.  The U10 Select teams will be using a size 4 ball.  A tournament will be held at the end of the season to crown a STATE champion.

U12

U12 will have 2 levels of play: Recreation and Select.

Recreation

U12 Rec teams will be formed from players registered with PCRA under the age of 12.  The recreation team will continue to play within the Morgan County Association.  The U12 Rec teams will continue to play as a coed team with a size 4 ball.  U12 will up the number of players to 8v8 with a keeper and offsides will be enforced.  A county tournament will be held to crown the county champs.

Select

U12 Select teams will be made up of teams that are selected from a try out.  U12 Select teams will play a 8v8 with a keeper.  The U12 Select teams will be using a size 4 ball.  A tournament will be held at the end of the season to crown a STATE champion.

U14

U14 will play North Alabama Soccer League this year.  U14 will play in an 11v11 format with a keeper.  They will use a size 5 ball.  If enough players register, then we will not play coed.
